Where has this been all my life? This is what a quality blogspot looks like.

Love Cactus. It always frustrated the hell out of me growing up when sitcoms/movies would make jokes about women being unattracted to the bass players in bands. Clearly those writers never heard Bogert "grease it out" to nowhere.

I'm only 23, but I almost feel nostalgic for recordings where you can actually separate the instruments. The bass is never lost on these tracks, it's always doing something colorful down below. Modern rock really should regress (of course it has in the stoner/doom underground) from all this high-production and quit the so-called "loudness war." More Free, more Cactus, more Who, more GFR.

I'll end the rant here by saying that I wouldn't have minded hearing "Rumblin' Man" (maybe it would have stuck out from the grooviness of the other recordings), which is essentially Melvins but 15 years earlier. But this was a perfect post, and I'm gonna start combing the hell out of this blog.

Please keep up the good work.

Grease it out,

Aaron
